The reading
A luxury inventory rap that treats brand names, jewelry, and private jets as proof of arrival, with the smallest crack showing when a sobriety promise collapses

YOSEMITE: Travis Scott's Flex Catalogue With One Honest Admission
YOSEMITE is a flex record, and it is not shy about that. Across two and a half minutes Travis Scott recites a catalogue of watches, jets, labels, and jewelry, delivered in short, clipped couplets that scan more like line items than lyrics. The song's one surprise is how briefly it lets the mask slip.
Released in August 2018, the track appeared on the deluxe reissue of Scott's 2015 debut Rodeo, arriving the same month as his career-defining ASTROWORLD. In that context YOSEMITE sits a little oddly. ASTROWORLD was a sprawling, texture-heavy project; YOSEMITE is leaner and more conventional, a straight-ahead luxury rap built around a sticky, nursery-rhyme-simple hook. It feels less like a statement and more like a mood piece about the lifestyle ASTROWORLD was paying for.
The inventory
The opening verse is almost pure product placement. Ice, baguette-cut diamonds, a jet he hops off of while barely rested, Yves Saint Laurent across his pants and chest, Chanel on his partner. The couplet "I eat her flesh, you know the rest" is the one moment the catalogue slides from goods to appetite, but even then it is dismissed with a shrug of "you know the rest," as if sex is just another line on the receipt.
The second verse doubles down with specifics that are meant to be legible to listeners who care about them: a two-tone Patek, VVS-clarity diamonds dripping onto a Gucci shirt, a million dollars in a bag, five hundred shoes bought for "the drip I invest." The joke about Clearport (the private-jet terminal) being "like I Uber these jets" is the song's thesis in miniature: the extraordinary has become routine.
A brief interruption
The third verse is the only section that gestures toward anything other than acquisition. Scott is home, off the road, and name-checks Jordan 4s and Saint Laurent on his feet. Two lines stand out. "Covered with angels that's watching my soul" and "I feel like I'm chosen, I'm covered in gold" try to graft a spiritual frame onto the materialism, as if the jewelry is a sign of favour rather than a purchase. It is a familiar move in rap, and here it reads less as devotion than as self-reassurance.
The short interlude lines, including "I left her wide open, no self control," are the closest the song comes to acknowledging consequence. They pass in seconds and the hook returns.
The crack at the end
The final verse brings in Gunna, references a LearJet trip with Cash (Cactus Jack signee Sheck Wes is sometimes read into these name-drops, though Scott only says "Cash" here), and lists Prada in every colour alongside Eliantte-made chains with 30-point stones. Then comes the line that quietly undoes the rest of the song: "Said I'd kick the cup and now I'm asking, 'Where the codeine at.'" In a track otherwise built on control, mastery, and ownership, Scott admits he has broken a promise to himself about lean. He does not dwell on it. The verse continues as if nothing happened, which is arguably the point.
Why it works, when it works
YOSEMITE is not one of Scott's ambitious songs. It has no real narrative, little of the production maximalism that defines his best work, and a hook that is essentially a shopping list set to melody. What it offers is the specific pleasure of a well-constructed flex: tight internal rhymes, brand names deployed with rhythm, and the odd aphorism ("Know the coupe fast when it end with a S") that rewards a second listen.
It endures mostly as an album cut for fans who want the straight dopamine of Scott in boss-man mode. The codeine admission gives the song whatever weight it has, a reminder that the inventory is also a coping mechanism, and that even on a track this committed to winning, there is a cup he said he would put down and did not.

"YOSEMITE"
Ice on my neck, flawless baguettes
Hop off a jet, barely get rest
Cash through the month, I get a check
Yves Saint Laurent on my pants and my chest
Chanel, her dress
Clean up her mess
I eat her flesh, you know the rest
Count up a hun', cop a Rolex
Shine like the sun, you truly blessed
Two-tone Patek
In the Clearport like I Uber these jets
VVS's on me got my Gucci shirt wet
Put a M in my bag, I'ma get used to these racks
I went to school where they teach you finesse
Five hundred shoes for the drip I invest
I'm the boss man, I keep cash in the desk
Know the coupe fast when it end with a S
Now that I'm home, back off the road
We shut it down, where it ain't so
With checks in the streets, J number 4's
Saint Laurent feet, put it on toes
Take it with me, double your dose
Covered with angels that's watching my soul
Jet got a bed, it's bigger windows
Said I'll be there in 10, but I got there in four
I feel like I'm chosen, I'm covered in gold
I left her wide open, no self control
Took nothing but five minutes, she hopped in and drove
Ice on my neck, flawless baguettes
Hop off a jet, barely get rest
Cash through the month, I get a check
Yves Saint Laurent on my pants and my chest
Chanel, her dress
Clean up her mess
I eat her flesh, you know the rest
Count up a hun', cop a Rolex
Shine like the sun, you truly blessed
Two-tone Pateks
In the Cleaport like I Uber the jets
VVS's on me got my Louie shirt wet
It's a M in my bag and get used to these racks
I went to school where they teach you finesse
Five hundred shoes for the drip I invest
I'm the boss man, I keep cash in the desk
Know the coupe fast when it end with a S
La Flame on a island
Me and Cash, Gunna hopped on a LearJet
Got Prada's, every colour
And I got CC's you ain't seen yet
Said I'd kick the cup and now I'm asking, "Where the codeine at"?
30 pointers and up, Eliantte
Drippin', my whole team wet
